Maria Theresa is shown at the age of around 40. On the cushion next to her are crowns as symbols of her most important sovereign titles: in the foreground the Hungarian Crown of St Stephen, behind it the Bohemian Crown of St Wenceslas and the Austrian Archduke's Hat. Hidden in the background we can also see the Crown of the Rudolphine House.
