It is indicative that the patriotic eulogy “Our Monarchy”, portraying the Crown lands of Austria, begins the series of illustrations with a photograph of the Vienna Hofburg. The photo is surrounded by set pieces on loyalty to the Empire such as the banner “Viribus unitis”. The arms of Upper and Lower Austria that flank the illustration show the two Austrian Danube provinces as the core territories of Habsburg rule.
