Excerpt from the 41st sketchbook by Maximilian Liebenwein

The Art Nouveau painter Maximilian Liebenwein produced a total of 54 sketchbooks during his military service in which he recorded his immediate impressions. The 41st sketchbook was finished between 18 and 27 December 1917 in Michalice (today Poland) and contains several studies of Elenka, the daughter in the house where a war comrade of Maximilian Liebenwein’s was accommodated.
