23rd sketchbook by Maximilian Liebenwein

The Art Nouveau painter Maximilian Liebenwein produced a total of 54 sketchbooks during his military service. He thus documented his various impressions from everyday life on the front, produced landscape studies, portrayed the population, drew soldiers and many of the horses under his care. The 23rd sketchbook was finished between 30 January 1917 and 27 February 1917 in Čepovan (today Slovenia).
